This is the basic comment layout, with increased spacing to hopefully improve readability.

This is a second comment, to show un-nested comment stacking.

This is a third, longer comment to show how multiple lines scale. Feel free to click the rec button, as it is functional. Well, really it just swaps images, but it at least LOOKS functional. So, that's something, right? Also note that the reply button gets a more prominant place at the bottom left to more easily promote conversation, since that's the whole point. The Rec, Share and Flag buttons have been simplified for a cleaner interface.

Reply's get nesting, a blue highlight to easily identify a conversation, and an "in reply to" label that can drop under the user name on resize, pushing the body text down. Go ahead, resize the screen.

And of course, this is a reply to a reply, with further nesting. Speaking of replys, the reply buttons on the comments are functional, so go ahead and click them. You can't actually post anything, but the post box does come up for demonstration purposes.

This is a rec'd post, so it get's orange highlighting. While the Youtube/social media embedding functions are quite good, and even the Giphy search has a convieniece about it, the lack of custom embedded images does damage a community like this that often shares images (often self created) to illustrate points, to analyze plays or just for fun.
These are things that aren't, for the most part, feasible with a curated Giphy search. WCG, and I'd wager SBNation as a whole, doesn't have a problem with inapropriate images being posted, nor is there likely to be any copyright issues. And if any issues do crop up, our moderators are alwys on the ball.

This is a new/unseen post, which gets a yellow highlight. Z scrolling function should highlight this. It is semi functional in this mockup, however, my javascript is a little, um, rough, so you need to hit "z" about 10 times before it scrolls to the next unseen comment below this. I tried to trouble shoot it, but ultimately, I just didn't have the time to bang my head against a keyboard for hours trying to figure it out, so I'm calling it good enough for demonstration purposes. Also:
the Sarcasm Font is TOTALLY not missed... hint hint.
Same goes for emojis

Another unseen post, this time with table data imported:
QB
YDS
TDs
INTs
Trubisky
3138
17
10
Mahomes
4031
26
5
Watson
3852
26
12
This would be a super useful feature for a sports based community. Our members are often posting stats and comparisons that would be much easier to digest if they were in table form. This could be done with either/both a simple table function that allows for setting the number of columns and rows (with an upper limit for each, and a set amount of padding to keep things reasonable/readable) which you can then type data into, or with pasting of spreadsheet data (excel, calc, sheets etc).

One last unseen post, just to wrap things up. Thanks for checking this out, and thanks for everyone who provided the feedback that made this possible! I hope this community sourced style reference is helpful to the Coral team, as an idea of where the community would like our comment system to go.

A previously hidden post, now revealed in the conversation pop-out. This removes the need to load a new page when viewing nested conversations (and also keeps you from losing your place on the main page), and is a cleaner/less annoying way to view hidden conversations. That said, my vote is for at least giving an opt-out option for hiding long conversations.
Half of the enjoyment people get from coming here is reading and participating in lively disscussions. If you are constantly hiding the most popular conversations, you are just making harder for people to participate and enjoy the community. If you can't see the conversation when scrolling through, the chances you see something that motivates you to join in are far lower. Hiding conversations KILLS participation.

Another previously hidden post, which is also new/unseen. With a pop-out function, z scrolling can now simply pop-out any hidden conversations that contain a new post, making the function possible/practical again. Also, once you are in a poped-out conversation, don't hide any more of it. The user has already taken action to view more content, so just show it all.
